“How are we to live?” This is the central question of ethics. At The Applied Ethics Group, LLC the central question of our work is this: “How can we draw on the power of ethics to help organizations and individuals to flourish.” In responding to this question, Applied Ethics (Æ) has a twofold mission: first, to assist organization to avail themselves of the transformative potential of ethics that is indispensable for long term success, and, second, to aid in addressing the important and difficult ethical issues they may encounter during the course of their work.
While ethical theory has been one of the crowning achievements of philosophical thought, an important challenge has been to put ethics into practice across a range of professional activities ranging from business to medicine and environmental management. Ethics, when applied to these many fields, is collectively known as “applied ethics,” and this is our company’s domain of practice.
To meet its organizational mission, AEG draws on the knowledge, skills and understanding of outstanding professionals to assist organizations to bring the strength of ethics to bear in the processes of management and development.
Our range of services is growing. Our initial focus has been on business ethics, but we are expanding into other areas, including medical ethics, environmental ethics, academic ethics, conflict resolution, and the ethics of end of life care and planning.
In every case, our goal is simple and consistent: to bring the services of skilled ethicists to the aid of organizations in ways that — to the best of our abilities — represent the best in ethical thinking and transcend the partisanship associated with contending schools of thought. We seek to bring the unifying outlook of the mountaintop to the crossroads in the valley.
